Greece: Police brutality against students and journalists who were protesting for the Farmakonisi tragedy
On Thursday
morning, police special forces attacked against students who were
peacefully protesting for the Farmakonisi tragedy
(http://failedevolution.blogspot.gr/2014/01/farmakonisi-tragedy.html)
outside the office of the MP Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.
According to
the Greek radio broadcaster "Sto Kokkino", the policemen
attacked against students, journalists and photographers, as well as
against MP with the Leftist party SYRIZA, Christos Karagiannidis.
According to
the reporter of the radio broadcaster, the policemen from "Delta"
team who attacked, forced students to lie down by kicking and beating
them.
Speaking at
Hot Doc Radio with the journalist Kostas Vaxevanis, Christos
Karagiannidis supported that there were 50 to 60 people - members of
the SYRIZA youth with banners while suddenly the police forces
attacked against them without reason. Not only students were beaten
by the police, but also journalists and photographers, as well as
people who tried to save them while some of them have been arrested.
He also
claimed that there is a recorded material from the attack which
proves police brutality and will be given to publicity.
