AIPAC
sabotaging deal with Iran
“The
pro-Israel Republican members of Congress are seeking to start war
with Iran and toughen a bill allowing Congress to review a final
nuclear agreement with Tehran over its nuclear energy program, a
political and military analyst in New York says. 'There’s a group
of rump Republicans who are very pro-Israel…who basically want a
war with Iran, they think it’s easy,' Michael Burns told Press TV
on Monday.”
“The
American Israel Public Affairs Committee has been quietly pressing
Republicans to oppose a number of pro-Israel amendments that
lawmakers have tried to add to the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act,
according to a report by Bloomberg Review. AIPAC supports the
original version of the bill as language inserted at the last minute,
as part of a concession to Obama, would make implementation of a deal
possible even if Congress votes against it.”
“Right-wing
elements in the Republican Party along with Israel and some of their
allies accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its civilian
nuclear program. Iran rejects the allegation, arguing that as a
committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and
a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the
right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.”
